Dill Pickle Salad Dressing
Hello dill pickle fans, what’s your favorite kind of pickle? I prefer spicy pickles over sweet pickles or butter pickles any day of the week. My favorite is to add them to sandwiches, especially our Open-Faced Tuna Melts or Pressed Cuban Sandwiches.
You’ll always find a jar or two of homemade dressing in our refrigerator at any given time. From Honey Balsamic Vinaigrette to Jalapeno Ranch Dressing to Strawberry Salad Dressing, I’ve gotcha covered on plenty of delicious concoctions to try.
We enjoy our homemade dressings on green salads, pasta salads, sandwiches, and for dipping veggies and chips. The sky is the limit!
Why This Recipe Works:
- SIMPLE INGREDIENTS – The ingredients used for this homemade ranch dressing can easily be found at your local grocery store.
- CREAMY DIP – Serve this ranch dip on game day to dip all of your favorite things.
- FOR PICKLE LOVERS and RANCH LOVERS – This tangy dill pickle ranch will make everyone happy, especially if you are a dill pickle lover like me. It’s a great alternative to traditional ranch dressing.
- HEALTHIER ALTERNATIVE – Making your own dressing is a great way to incorporate quality ingredients while knowing exactly what you’re consuming.
What you’ll need to make Dill Pickle Ranch:
- Mayo – I normally use Kraft mayonnaise with olive oil which is a lighter version of mayo.
- Sour Cream – You can use a full-fat or light version of sour cream.
- Greek Yogurt – Use plain Greek yogurt for some extra tang. I prefer using full-fat or 2% yogurt.
- Fresh Dill – Fresh herbs add incredible flavor to everything.
- Pickle Juice – Use pickle brine (from your favorite pickles) to thin the dressing and for extra tangy dill flavor.
- Seasonings – A combo of garlic powder, kosher salt, and freshly ground black pepper.
How to make Dill Pickle Ranch Dressing:
Step 1
Combine ingredients. In a mixing bowl, combine the ranch dressing ingredients – mayo, sour cream, Greek yogurt, fresh dill, pickle juice, and seasonings (onion powder, garlic powder, kosher salt, and freshly ground black pepper).
Step 2
Whisk. Use a whisk to combine the dressing ingredients.
Step 3
Store. Spoon dressing into a serving bowl or mason jar. Store in the refrigerator for up to one week.
What to pair Pickle Dressing with:
- Deconstructed Burgers (see below)
- Chicken Hummus Bowls
- Mediterranean Grain Bowls with Chicken
- Grilled Chicken Skewers
- Use it as a delicious dip for French fries, potato chips, chicken wings, and fresh veggies.
Tips for making Dill Pickle Ranch Dressing:
- Use fresh dill. Fresh dill will give your dressing a bright, herby flavor that pairs well with the tangy pickle taste.
- Use pickle juice. The pickle juice adds incredible flavor to this dressing.
- Let the flavors meld. For the best flavor, let the dressing sit in the fridge for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld together.
- Adjust the seasoning. Taste the dressing and adjust the seasoning as needed. If you want it more tangy, add more pickle juice.
- Use a food processor or blender. For a smoother consistency, blend the dressing in a food processor or blender until it reaches your desired consistency.
- Store properly. Store any leftover dressing in an airtight container in the fridge for up to one week.
