Layered Fruit Smoothies

Texas summers can be downright brutal, so we lean heavily on fresh and frozen fruit to keep us energized and refreshed. Smoothies are our go-to after workouts — especially after the long bike rides we love squeezing in whenever we can.ng bike rides – which we love to do.

Ever since I made our layered Fruity Margaritas, I’ve been dreaming about a layered smoothie version. You could mix the fruit, but isn’t it way more fun to admire those vibrant, delicious layers first?

Recipe FAQs:

Can I use fresh fruit?

You can use fresh fruit but you’d need a lot of ice. Frozen blueberries and mangos work perfectly and help give the smoothie a thicker, colder texture.

How do I get the layers to stay separated?

Blend each fruit layer separately and pour gently over the back of a spoon. Chill the first layer slightly before adding the next to help them stay distinct.

Can I prep this in advance?

You can prep the fruit and chia seeds in advance (stored in the freezer), but it’s best to assemble the layers right before serving to keep them vibrant.

How much chia seeds should i use?

About 1–2 teaspoons per smoothie works well. Let them soak in a little liquid for 5–10 minutes before blending for a smoother texture.

Can I substitute other flavors?

Absolutely! Try strawberries, pineapple, or kiwi for different flavors and colorful layers.

Can I make it vegan or dairy-free?

Yes! Use any plant-based milk or yogurt instead of dairy for a vegan-friendly version.

How can I sweeten these if needed?

Most fruit is naturally sweet, but you can add a little honey, agave, or maple syrup if desired.
