Burrata Caprese

While we don’t have a large garden like my parents had back in the day, we DO have a few cherry tomato plants plus a pot of fresh basil. That’s all we need – right? I must say that our miniature garden is doing quite well this year which is excellent news when craving burrata caprese!

If you have large tomatoes, go ahead and make Classic Caprese Salad with Balsamic Glaze. It’s a great one! We also enjoy Arugula Caprese Salad on the regular.

What You’ll Need:

This simple salad combines simple ingredients that can easily be found in most grocery stores.

  • Burrata Cheese – Burrata cheese is a fresh Italian cheese made from cow’s milk, featuring a soft outer shell and a creamy, buttery interior. The outer shell is made of mozzarella, while the inside contains stracciatella and cream, giving it a rich and indulgent texture.
  • Cherry Tomatoes – If you can find garden fresh tomatoes, use those!
  • Fresh Basil – We keep a pot of fresh basil on our deck for all of the delicious things.
  • Extra-Virgin Olive Oil
  • Balsamic Glaze – You can also use balsamic vinegar instead.
  • Salt and Pepper – We use kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper.

How to make Burrata Caprese Salad:

Step 1
Set out the burrata cheese. Remove the burrata rounds from the container to a plate and let sit out for 20 minutes or so. Pull them apart slightly to reveal the soft insides of the cheese.

Step 2
Prep the tomatoes. Slice the cherry tomatoes in half and add to a medium bowl.

Step 3
Add remaining ingredients. Then add the burrata cheese to the top of the tomatoes. Add olive oil, kosher salt, and freshly ground black pepper (to taste). Add balsamic glaze and top with fresh basil leaves.

Step 4
Serve salad. Serve salad with some extra freshly ground black pepper.
