Lemon-Lime Mojitos
These delicious mojitos are perfect for sipping on a hot summer day. The sweetness of the lemonade balances out the tartness of the lime and the herbal notes of the mint, while the rum adds a kick of tropical flavor (plus it’s boozy).
Let’s pretend we’re in the tropics, y’all!
Why This Recipe Works:
- SIMPLE INGREDIENTS – You’ll just need five ingredients plus club soda (optional) to serve these summer cocktails.
- TASTY – Lemon Mojitos are the tastiest drinks! If you’re a lemonade lover, you’ll love them even more than a classic mojito.
- PERFECT FOR PARTIES – We love large-batch beverages for parties. You’ll be making this perfect cocktail all summer long for your guests.
- MINT OVERFLOW – We have a giant patch of mint and it continues to grow. So what do we do? Make mojitos!
What you’ll need to make Lemon Mojitos:
- Fresh Mint Leaves – Mint leaves contain essential oils that are released when they are muddled, creating a fresh and herbaceous flavor that adds depth to the cocktail.
- Limes – Fresh lime juice is a crucial ingredient in a mojito, as it provides flavor to the cocktail, and helps to balance out the other ingredients in the drink. The lime slices (and lemon slices) also add visual appeal to the drink.
- Lemons – You’ll want to add regular lemons to these too.
- Lemonade – We love using lemonade in mojitos because it adds a sweet and tangy flavor. It also helps to keep these simple.
- White Rum – Rum is the classic liqueur in a mojito because it adds sweetness, tropical flavors, and complexity.
- Simple Syrup – Simple syrup is an optional ingredient in these mojitos but they add a little extra sweetness to the tart-but-sweet lemonade.
How to make Lemon Mojitos:
Step 1
Muddle the mint leaves. In a glass pitcher, combine the mint leaves and a couple of ounces of simple syrup. Use a muddler to muddle the mint until fragrant, about 15-20 seconds.
Step 2
Squeeze the limes. Use a citrus press to squeeze the limes. Add the lime juice to the pitcher.
Step 3
Combine ingredients. To the pitcher add the lemonade and light rum. Stir until well combined. Then add lemon and lime slices.
Step 4
Prep glasses. Prepare two tall glasses by adding crushed ice cubes, lemon slices, and lime slices.
Step 5
Serve lemon mojitos. Pour the lemon mojitos into the prepared glasses. Add a sprig of mint to each refreshing cocktail for garnish.
What to serve with Lemon Mojitos:
We need party snacks and appetizers to pair with this refreshing drink!
Lemon-Lime Mojito Tips:
- Prep in advance. I like to make sure all my ingredients are super cold well in advance of making the mojitos. You can even place the rum in the freezer.
- Use pretty glasses. It’s fun to make these drinks pretty. Start with the glasses and then load them up with citrus.
- Make a double batch for parties. If you’re having a large group, you’ll need more than one batch (depending on how many folks are joining you).
