Ingredients

  • 1/2 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium jalapeno - diced
  • 1.5 Tablespoons homemade taco seasoning - from my site (or use store bought)
  • 1 medium homemade pizza dough - from my site (or use store bought)
  • 1/3 cup Ortega taco sauce - medium heat
  • 1 large roma tomato - sliced thin
  • 1/2 medium green or yellow bell pepper - sliced thin
  • 1/4 medium onion - sliced thin
  • 1/3 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/3 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • shredded lettuce on top (optional) - to serve

Instructions

  1. NOTE on dough: If making homemade pizza dough, follow my steps on that recipe. You can also freeze pizza sections and use one for this recipe. Or if preferred, use store bought dough.

  2. Prepare taco meat. Brown ground beef in medium skillet, on medium high heat. When beef is cooked through, add diced jalapeño and taco seasoning. Cook for another 5 minutes, and set aside.

  3. Using same skillet, sauté the peppers and onions in a bit of olive oil. Set aside.

  4. Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Prepare skillet (or pizza pan) with baking spray. Spread dough out, using your fingers to push it to the edges.

  5. Add toppings. Spoon taco sauce on top of dough. Add prepared taco meat. Then add sliced tomatoes, peppers, and onions. Top with cheese.

  6. Bake for 15 - 18 minutes, or until crust is golden brown on the bottom and cheese is melted. Serve with extra taco sauce. Enjoy!

Recipe Notes

  1. You can prep in advance and have individual pizza dough (freezes well), homemade taco seasoning, and browned ground beef all handy and ready to go.
  2. Omit the jalapeño if you don't like any spiciness.
  3. The crust should get golden brown and slightly crunchy on the bottom.
  4. Add shredded lettuce to the top of the pizza to serve.
