Ingredients
1-2Tablespoonsolive oil
1/2largeonion- chopped
2clovesgarlic- diced
28oz.crushed tomatoes
15oz.fire-roasted diced tomatoes
3-4Tablespoonstomato paste
1cuplower-sodium chicken broth
1teaspoonsugar
1teaspoondried basil
1teaspoonItalian seasoning
kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper- to taste
Instructions
In a medium sauce pan, heat olive oil on medium heat. Add onion and sauté until soft, approximately 4-5 minutes. Then add garlic, seasonings, and tomato paste - and stir for another minute or so.
Add crushed tomatoes, diced tomatoes, broth, and sugar - and stir well.
Bring to a boil and then reduce heat to simmer. Cook for another 15-20 minutes.
STORE homemade marinara sauce in an airtight container in your refrigerator for up to four days.FREEZE marinara sauce in in airtight container wrapped in a large freezer bag. This will freeze well for 3-4 months.
